For more than two decades, Neopians have explored the lands of Neopia through games, stories, daily quests, and countless adventures with their favorite Neopets. With Neopia Quest, we’re bringing that sense of discovery, collecting, and cooperation to your tabletop in a brand-new way.
What Is Neopia Quest?
Neopia Quest is an officially licensed cooperative board game set in the world you know and love. Designed for 1–4 players, it lets you and your friends team up as classic Neopets with loyal Petpet companions, traveling across familiar locations like Neopia Central, Meridell, Tyrannia, and the Haunted Woods.
Each session of Neopia Quest is built around a story-driven scenario, or “quest,” where you’ll work together to:
- Explore different regions of Neopia
- Collect powerful items and helpful allies
- Face off against challenges and villains from Neopian lore
- Race against “bedtime,” a turn-based timer that keeps the tension high
The goal is simple: complete your quest before the day ends. The path you take, the items you collect, and the strategies you choose are entirely up to you and your fellow players.
Designed With Neopians in Mind
Neopia Quest is being developed by Ghostfire Gaming, a tabletop studio known for richly themed, narrative-first games. From the start, their team’s goal has been to capture what makes Neopets special: the joy of collecting, the thrill of exploring new places, and the warmth of sharing stories with friends. They also bring a proven crowdfunding track record, having launched 20 campaigns and delivered 17 projects, with their three most recent projects currently in production and running to schedule.
Key features you can expect include:
- Multiple playable Neopets, each with their own unique abilities
- Petpet companions that add extra flavor and strategy to your character
- A growing library of story quests with different difficulty levels and tones
- A large assortment of iconic Neopian items integrated directly into the gameplay
Early preview builds have already been shown to fans and content creators, and feedback has helped refine everything from map readability to card wording and visual clarity. The final version of the game will expand well beyond the initial demo content, with more quests, more items, and more ways to experience Neopia together around the table.
Why Crowdfunding?
Rather than heading straight to retail, Neopia Quest will first launch as a crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound. This approach lets us:
- Gauge demand directly from the Neopets community
- Invest in higher-quality components and art
- Add bonus content and upgrades through stretch goals
- Involve fans early through comments, feedback, and campaign updates
Backing the campaign is effectively a way of pre-ordering the game while also helping bring the best possible version to life. Campaign backers will be the first to receive Neopia Quest once production is complete, and the campaign will offer special rewards and extras that may not be available later.
