Hello, Neopians! As the leaves turn orange and the nights grow longer, it's time to embrace the chills and thrills of Halloween. This year, we’re doing a bigger-than-ever celebration: the Festival of Fears, running alongside the ongoing Haunted Mansion event. Let's get into some highlights of this haunting event!
Kicking off on October 23rd and running through October 31st, Festival of Fears promises nine days of immersive Halloween fun across Neopets.com. We’ve added some new twists to keep you on your toes, so keep reading on!
Explore the Interactive Hub Page
This year, Reginald is hosting the event in his own personal library to share some scary stories he's collected over the years. Join him in his library and use it as your central command to stay organized and track your story collection progress. The new hub features:
- Archives Tab: A collection of all the old stories for easy revisiting.
- Activities Tab: A handy list of Halloween-themed activities tied into the event, including classics like the Brain Tree, Esophagor, Edna's Tower, Scratchcards, Wheel of Misfortune, and more!
- Goodie Bag & Trivia Section: Track your progress and take Reginald’s carefully crafted tests!
Hunt for Hidden Goodie Bags and Scary Stories
At the heart of the event is a thrilling scavenger hunt. 7 hidden goodie bags will be scattered across the site, each containing a corresponding scary story. Find them all to unveil more of Neopia’s haunted happenings, and maybe a bonus surprise for the bravest explorers.
What's new this year? Unlike past events where everything was available at once, these bags will drop one per day. Once you snag a bag, head to the interactive hub page to unlock the story.To make sure that you're TRULY reading the story, Reginald will test your haunted lore with some trivia. Answer correctly to make him happy and earn rewards from his secret trick-or-treat stash! And for all the collectors out there, you can now open your Goodie Bags but still keep the empty ones as souvenirs!
Updated Halloween Activities with a Frightful Twist
Several beloved Neopets activities are getting Halloween makeovers exclusively for the event (and some changes will stick around afterwards!). Here's some different ways you can celebrate during the Festival of Fears!
- Try your luck with the Deserted Fairground Scratchcards.
- Get one free spin at the Wheel of Misfortune.
- Visit Edna at any time, day or night, for a higher chance of hearing her unique laughter and more variety of rewards.
- Go Apple Bobbing, but be careful; with the increase of visitors due to the festival, Bart may be up to more tricks than usual.
- Send a Petpet into Grave Danger, and due to how frightening the festivities are, we bet those little guys won't be able to stay in there nearly as long as usual.
- Attempt to give the Brain Tree the answers he seeks for all new kinds of rewards.
- Feed the Esophagor a spooooooky number of times for something entirely new.
- Test your bravery at the NC Haunted Mansion.

Haunted Mansion: The NC Mall Tie-In for Extra Eeriness
No Halloween is complete without a dash of deluxe sparkles, and that's where the Haunted Mansion comes in. The NC (Neocash) event happens alongside the Festival of Fears and runs from October 16th to October 31st, giving you a head start on the scares.
How to Join the Mansion Mayhem
Head to the NC Mall to purchase special Afterlife Tickets that unlock participation in the Haunted Mansion activity. this year with all-new themes to light up the fun, literally!
As you progress, you'll "light up" rooms in the mansion. Reach milestones like the 4th, 8th, and 16th rooms to score bonus prizes. It's a rewarding adventure with fresh prizes tailored for 2025, perfect for collectors and customisation fans. For the first time, you can even reset windows in the Haunted Mansion! If there’s a reward you loved, you can now extinguish its light and rekindle it to claim that prize again, as long as you have enough Afterlife Tickets!
