#NEOPETS: A New Creative Contest

Jul 1, 2026

Neopians, it’s time to get creative!

We’re excited to introduce #NEOPETS, a new creative contest inspired by the spirit of the classic Random Contest, now reimagined for the modern Neopets community. Each month, we’ll announce a new, themed challenge where you can show off your creativity in fun, surprising, and very Neopian ways.

Whether you love to draw, craft, cosplay, bake, film, photograph, build, or decorate, this contest is your chance to bring Neopets into the real world and share what you create with the community. The only requirement is that your submission must be in a digital format we can share on our social media.

Each round will feature a new theme and a new entry form right here on this page. Your creation can take many forms, but entries should be submitted in a digital format, such as a photo, video, scan, or image file, so we can review and celebrate selected submissions with the community.

And don’t worry: while winners may be featured on Neopets social media, you do not need a social media account to enter. All entries will be submitted through the official contest form, which is updated monthly on this page. If you would like to be tagged when winners are shared, you’ll have the option to include your social handle.

For the inaugural #NEOPETS Contest, we’re kicking things off a little differently with a special Usukicon-themed challenge. Winners from this first round will have their submissions displayed as part of our official showcase at the Neopets New York Pop-Up! Keep reading to learn about how to enter the July debut.

#NEOPETS Contest Prizes

All winners will receive the new #NEOPETS Contest Trophy and a new avatar! The trophy is a count trophy, meaning that if you win again in a future #NEOPETS Contest, the count on your trophy will increase. Winners will also be featured on the official Neopets social media pages.

NOTE: These will be the standard prizes for each round of the contest, but special themed prizes may be added to future contests, so be sure to check back each month!

July #NEOPETS Contest: Usuki Couture!

The July theme is: Usuki Couture!

For this inaugural #NEOPETS Contest, we’re doing things a little differently. In addition to celebrating selected winners on Neopets social media, we’ll also be choosing submissions to display as part of our official showcase at the Neopets NYC Pop-Up, happening August 21–23. This means your Usuki Couture creation could be featured both online with the Neopets community and in person at the event.

Digital submission winners will be printed and displayed gallery-style, and we will also be accepting physical submissions for those able to deliver locally.  For more information, please review the FAQ below as well as the submission guidelines listed on the form.

Submissions will be accepted through the official form until July 21 at 11:59 PM PST. Winners will be contacted and announced on Neopets social media by July 31st.

We can’t wait to see your Usuki-inspired pieces!

Do I need a social media account to enter?

No. You do not need a social media account to enter. All submissions must be sent through the official form. If you would like to be tagged when winners are shared, you may optionally include your social handle for credit!

I want to enter this competition, but I don’t want my work shared on social media. Can I still participate?

Because #NEOPETS is designed as a modern version of our longstanding creative contest, selected winners will be announced and celebrated on official Neopets social media. Sharing winners publicly helps us spotlight player creativity, bring the community together, and share the amazing things Neopians are making with the wider community.

If you do not want your work shared on official Neopets social media, you are not eligible to enter this contest. We completely understand if that makes this contest not the right fit for you, and we encourage you to check out our other on-site creative contests, like the Art Gallery, where you can still share your Neopets-inspired artwork with the community.

Can I use AI-generated artwork?

Submissions should be original works created by the entrant. AI-generated artwork is not allowed.

Are collaborations allowed?

At this time, each submission must be created and submitted by one individual user.

We love the idea of collaborative entries, and based on player feedback and suggestions, we may explore special collaboration-friendly rounds in the future!

What is the #NEOPETS Contest cadence?

The #NEOPETS Contest will be a monthly contest, with a new theme and entry form opening at the beginning of each month. Winners will be contacted privately and announced on Neopets social media by the end of the month.

How many pieces can I submit for the #NEOPETS July contest?

Artists may submit up to 2 pieces per category.

How many winners will be accepted for the #NEOPETS July contest?

For this showcase, we expect to accept approximately:

  • 20–30 digital print designs
  • 10–15 physical works
What do I need to include with my submission to the #NEOPETS July contest?

This information will all be listed on the official entry form, but please be expected to include:

  • Your artwork and title
  • A short description of the piece, in-universe flavor text is encouraged!
  • Your artist name and/or Neopets username
  • Artwork dimensions, physical submissions only
I’m not able to deliver my submission locally for the #NEOPETS July contest. Can it still be displayed?

If you are submitting in the Physical Showcase Pieces category, you must be able to deliver your piece locally and attend the pop-up event. If you are unable to do so, you are not eligible to submit a physical entry.

However, we encourage you to photograph your piece and submit it as a digital entry instead. Selected digital submissions will still be displayed as prints!

Will every #NEOPETS Contest accept physical submissions?

Future contests will likely remain digital, but because this is our inaugural contest and we’re heading to New York, we wanted to make this first round extra special by creating a real-life Neopets art gallery!

Is there a size limit for physical submissions?

Yes! Your physical submission must fit into an 8x11-inch frame (or smaller).

What file types can I submit?

For digital submissions, please submit a high-quality image or video file through the form, keeping the upload limit in mind. Digital entries should be clear and high-resolution enough to be displayed as a print, or shared as a video if selected.

For physical media submissions, please submit clear, high-quality photos of your piece for review. Selected artists will be contacted privately with instructions on how to deliver their physical piece locally for in-person display.

Does my submission have to be Usuki-themed?

Yes. For the July contest, all submissions should be inspired by the Usuki Couture theme. If this doesn’t spark inspiration, don’t worry as the theme will be different every month!

Can I submit traditional art?

Yes. Traditional art is welcome! You can submit a scan or high-quality photo of your piece as a digital entry.

Can I submit food, cosplay, crafts, or mixed media?

Yes! In the spirit of the old Random Contest, we welcome creative formats, including food, cosplay, crafts, sculpture, photography, video, and mixed media. Please submit clear photos or videos of your creation.

Can I enter if I’m not attending the NYC Pop-Up?

Yes, you can still enter the digital category. However, physical showcase submissions must be delivered locally and are intended for artists who can attend or coordinate delivery for the pop-up.

Will my submission be returned after the event?

Physical submissions may be picked up after the event. Additional pickup details will be shared with selected artists.
